This classic decorating trend has been around since the beginning of time, but for the upcoming year, florals have been thoroughly refreshed and modernized. And you too will soon enough see floral patterns in a new light. Decorators expect to find exaggerated proportions, playful scales, and contrasting colors to make this timeless decor pattern feel refreshed. Rose gold was one of 2018’s most seen decor trends, yet for 2019 we are expecting to see less rose gold and more copper accents, along with a mixture of other metals and finishes. With it’s red and orange tones and overall earthy hue, copper offers a much-needed breath of fresh air for the new year. Don’t forget to check our guide for including Metallic objects into your home.
Though muted colors can help you avoid making spaces feel overwhelming and visually heavy, our interior designers believe that 2019 will be a year where bolder colors are preferred. Richer hues throughout your home can make your more muted and natural-hued furnishings and decorative elements instantly pop and feel anew. Lookout for dramatic reds, statement pinks, bold yellows, and lush greens. 2019 is setting up to be a year where we say goodbye to stainless steel, chrome, and polished nickel, and welcome brass accents back into our homes. Brass is a surprisingly warm and subtle alternative to the expected steel accents and will be sure to add an everyday sense of elegance to even the simplest of spaces.
If you’re comfortable with black as a colour then painting an entire feature wall in black won’t be too much of stretch. Whether this is in your lounge, bedroom or bathroom, consider the overall natural lighting of the room. Black looks best in rooms with ample light to prevent the room from feeling too dark. Black also works well on interior doors to contrast white walls. Incorporate subtle hints of black alongside earthy colours to add a sense of drama and elegance. Think pendant lighting, dinner table seating, plates & cutlery or a vase.
