Downsized living, minimalism and tiny homes are all current architectural trends, so it makes sense that flexible furniture is one of the key interior design trends 2019. Compact furniture that has multiple uses, whether for storage, working at home or sleeping is ideal for maximising the square footage of a small urban apartment or home.
This classic decorating trend has been around since the beginning of time, but for the upcoming year, florals have been thoroughly refreshed and modernized. And you too will soon enough see floral patterns in a new light. Decorators expect to find exaggerated proportions, playful scales, and contrasting colors to make this timeless decor pattern feel refreshed. Rose gold was one of 2018’s most seen decor trends, yet for 2019 we are expecting to see less rose gold and more copper accents, along with a mixture of other metals and finishes. With it’s red and orange tones and overall earthy hue, copper offers a much-needed breath of fresh air for the new year. Don’t forget to check our guide for including Metallic objects into your home.
The trend for luxury and glamour in 2019 is expressed by incorporating noble coloured metals – silver, gold, brass or copper – into furniture, or as stand-alone pieces. This style is reminiscent of Art Deco, hailed as one of the most glamorous periods in design history. But don’t go matchy matchy with your metals. Mesh two or even three complementary metallic finishes together for greater visual interest.
