MEET MARC
Four years ago, I promised to improve the quality of life in Montgomery County for all residents. Thanks to the support of people like you, I have been working hard to fulfill that promise. As I finish my first term in office, I am asking for your support so that I can continue my work in a second term.
As always, I will not be taking developers' money in my campaign. Because the Council makes so many land-use decisions that have tens of millions of dollars in impacts and benefits for landowners, I continue to believe that it is absolutely essential to put a firewall between contributions and the decisions I have to make. In making that choice, I must again turn to you to provide the resources for a successful campaign—I need your support, and yes, I need your money.
Biography
Marc was born in Washington, D.C. in 1949, and his family moved to Forest Glen ten years later. He attended Montgomery County public schools, earned a BA in History from the University of Maryland and, later, a Masters in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. Marc was elected ten times to the Takoma Park City Council. Takoma Park has its own library, housing department, police service, public works, recreation facilities, waste collection, and recycling program. As the representative of the city's Ward 5, Marc was tireless in his efforts to help solve problems faced by his constituents. In the years prior to being elected to the Montgomery County Council, he championed the city's efforts to make affordable, safe, and high-quality rental housing available, and worked to help tenants purchase and become owners of their apartment buildings.
Marc and his wife raised two children, Joshua and Jamie, and two foster-sons, John and Doug. He was a founding member of the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Co-op. After getting his teaching degree, he taught for seventeen years at Rolling Terrace Elementary School in Takoma Park. He taught fourth and fifth grade in one of the most diverse schools in the county.

An Archival Digest of Marc's Commentaries
Before I was elected to the County Council, I served on the Takoma Park City Council and was a citizen-activist who spent many hours working with communities and testifying at public hearings on a variety of issues. I have placed links to some of that testimony and opinion below. These documents are in a variety of formats, and some were connected to my 2006 campaign website. I hope you will find these informative about my views and my passion for good public policy.
