When you’re not sure where to start designing a kid’s room, choosing a theme can be a great first step. First, it will help you cater the room to the child by connecting to his or her individual interests. Then, it will provide a ready-made template for you to follow as you make your aesthetic choices.
A kid’s bedroom is more than just a place to sleep. It’s a place to dream, play and think. You can nourish your child’s imagination with a creatively designed bedroom. We’ve included a few examples below, but be advised, these rooms are so cool that sending your kids to their room will no longer be viewed as punishment.
The first thing to tackle is the furniture layout. If you have a baby, chances are you’ll be in and out of the room at night to tend to the baby. If possible, place their beds in opposite corners or walls with the crib being most accessible to the door. Obviously structural elements such as windows and heaters can dictate otherwise but your design objective is to give each child the most comfortable night’s sleep without one waking the other.
